Which is For You? OEC or Philips C-Arm?

C-Arms are definitely in demand, with North American being the largest market for C-Arms, with a market share of 40.3% and $809.4 million in market revenue. And the global C-Arm market is expected to grow to $3,142.8 million by 2030. This is largely due to the rising geriatric population and increasing demand for imaging technologies in the healthcare sector.

Many hospitals, clinics, urgent care facilities and veterinarian clinics are choosing to buy C-Arms through the secondary market, because they can get the performance they want at a much kinder price point. Two solid C-Arm options for consideration are the OEC C-Arms and the Philips Pulsera C-Arms. So what are the differences between these two product lines? Let’s take a closer look at which of these might be the better choice for your needs.

Power

When comparing OEC and Philips C-Arms, OEC is the clear winner when it comes to power.

If you don’t need all the anatomy-penetrating power of an OEC 9900 or 9800, the OEC 8800 could be right for you. It will cost less and have a smaller footprint, so it’s better for tight spaces and less fluoro-heavy applications.

Parts

When it comes to the availability of parts, you’ll find lots of OEC systems parts available on the secondary market, including for older models like the OEC 9600. However, parts for Philips C-Arms aren’t nearly available as OEC models. That makes them more costly to replace than OEC parts.

Third Party Engineering

If you want to keep any C-Arm functioning, it requires proper service and maintenance. This means you need a good engineer in close proximity. If you want to save money (and who wouldn’t), using a third-party engineer makes sense instead of an OEM. However, you’ll have a difficult time finding one who can or will service Philips systems. Third party engineers who will service OEM systems are abundantly available.

Of course, there are other factors to consider when choosing the right C-Arm for you. The experts at Atlantis Worldwide are happy to help you determine which C-Arm will be the right choice for your needs, whether a C-Arm by OEC, Philips or another manufacturer. Buying a refurbished or used C-Arm will provide significant savings, without scrimping on performance or warranties. It can be a smart choice for any practice, clinic, hospital or healthcare facility.
