Which GE Cath Lab Is Right For You?

In The Beginning….

There was only one series of GE Innova Cath labs before 2012. You could choose between three different sized detectors in your Cath Lab, depending on your specific needs. You could choose the GE Innova 2100 with an 8” X 8” detector for cardiac, a GE Innova 3100 with a 12” X 12” detector for mixed use and a GE Innova 4100 with a 16” X 16” detector for Angiography

The Innova 3100 was the most popular choice, thanks to its flexibility in both vascular and cardiac studies. However, GE has since introduced a wide range of systems, from entry level to advanced Hybrid OR systems.

GE Optima IGS Series For Value

• GE Optima CL320i – 12”x12” detector for mixed use
• GE Optima CL323i – 12”x12” detector for mixed use
• GE Optima IGS 320 – 8”x8” detector for cardiac use
• GE Optima IGS 330 – 12”x12” detector for mixed use

GE is proud that all of their models carry the same imaging chain. However, GE Optima IGS 3 Series systems differ with some feature limitations.

• Standard: The Ergo monitor suspension for three standard LCD monitors and limited movements.
• For upgrades, an “Ergo” 4 monitor suspension and a standard 4 monitor suspension can be added.
• On some models, the software options and the ability to add an AW workstation are limited.
• Optima systems are limited to the Omega IV or V table options.

GE Innova IGS 5 Series: The Most Popular

The GE Innova IGS 5 Series are definitely the most popular on the secondary market. They closely match up with the Original GE Innova 2100/ 3100/4100 series.

• GE Innova IGS 520 – 8”x8” detector for cardiac
• GE Innova IGS 530 – 12”x12” detector for mixed use
• GE Innova IGS 540 – 16”x16” detector for Angiography

These full featured GE Cath Labs can host the full range of software options and you can add full featured AW workstations.

• Four monitor suspension is standard
• You can upgrade to a 6 place suspension or even a large display monitor.
• Table options include the Innova tilting table and the Omega V standard table

Your High End Choice: GE Discovery IGS 7 Series

• GE Discovery IGS 730 – 12”x12” detector for mixed use
• GE Discovery IGS 740 – 16”x16” detector for Angiography

Unlike the other systems with floor mounted gantries, the Discovery 7 Series has a gantry on wheels, allowing for movement away from the table.

• These systems allow 360 degree access to the table when needed
• They are available in Hybrid OR configurations using the GE IQ tilting table or the Maquet Magnus OR table system
