First you have to select the site, then choose the equipment and finally, it’s ready to install. So what do you need to know in order to have a successful installation? Here are some things to keep in mind as you plan for your equipment installation.
Planning is Essential
There are lots of details you need to take care of, way before installation begins.
- Designate your internal installation team. Your team should consist of radiologists, technicians and IT members who can determine what is needed for a functioning imaging room or center.
- Create a timeline for the installation process. Your timeline should include site preparation, delivery, installation and testing. Share the timeline with members of your team.
- You’ll need to determine your utility needs for electrical, HVAC, plumbing and network needs. This will require collaboration and coordination between facilities management, maintenance personnel and utility providers.
Select Contractors You Can Trust
In many situations you will be remodeling a building that will house sensitive medical imaging equipment. Run-of-the-mill contractors do not have the skills for this kind of complicated project. You’ll need to hire an experienced team for your project.
- Be sure to do your research. Ask those who have completed these kinds of projects for recommendations. Read online reviews.
- Meet with multiple contractors and ask a lot of questions. Ask to speak to their former clients. Be thorough in your search for a qualified contractor.
