Sensible Solutions for Refurbished Radiology

The number of Urgent Care Centers in America is on the rise! According to the Urgent Care Association of America, an estimated three million patients visit one each week. Urgent Care Centers fulfill needs of patients who need treatment in a hurry, without an appointment and usually after hours.  Unlike doctor’s offices, most are open on weekends and nights -some 24 hours. Some even on holidays!  As a result of this trend, we’re seeing more and more activity on Twitter and in the news about urgent care centers.  Here are just a few tweets:

Radiation dose has become a growing concern for clinicians and patients alike, especially when children have been referred for a medical imaging test. Everyone wants to know more about the risks and benefits of CT scans, X-rays and other forms of medical imaging. When is it necessary? Is it safe? What are the alternatives? Patients want answers, so they can make more informed decisions for themselves and their families. 

Does your practice, clinic or hospital need new radiology equipment? There’s never been a better time to take the leap, thanks to the new Section 179 Tax Deduction. You can find it on page 154 of H.R. 8: American Taxpayer Relief of 2012, which is better know as the “Fiscal Crisis Bill.” But what you really need to know is this: you can claim deductions on new or used radiology equipment and necessary supportive hardware and software.  And more importantly, you can actually purchase the equipment and make small monthly payments to pay for the use of it over time through a properly structured lease. Surprisingly, the tax savings can also be used to make some of the monthly payments, which could reduce the overall cost of ownership.

Okay, the Atlantis Worldwide hospitality suite was rockin’, complete with a martini bar, hits from all the James Bond Classics, some old visitors Sean Connery, Ursula Andress and Halle Berry from the 007 Movies and Dr. No playing on the back walls.  The music, karaoke and ambience at The Coca Cola Museum was a bubbly experience.  And who didn’t love the coke?  As anyone who attended the annual Health Connect Partners Radiology and Imaging Conference in Atlanta in April can tell you, the conference was a huge success in many ways.   It offered a great balance of networking opportunities, industry learning and sharing, panel discussions and FUN.

Having been to Boston many times, I have to say that last week was a different experience.  The ASCA (Ambulatory Surgery Center Association) Show from April 17th to 19th, 2013 will be a show to remember.

“It’s hard to connect with potential clients at conventions.” “My booth is in a bad location.” “My calls never make it past the receptionist, but I know if I could reach this key decision maker, she’d appreciate this business opportunity.”
