Clarius Mobile Health’s C3 and L7 Wireless Ultrasound Scanners were recently approved by the FDA. The scanner connects to tablets and smartphones via a secure WiFi connection and then transfers the images to be viewed, manipulated or saved. It’s ideal for rapid procedures like guiding nerve blocks or targeted injections bedside.

It’s no secret that helium is essential to the process of MRI imaging. Helium becomes a liquid at very low temperatures, and facilitates the superconductivity that MRI imaging depends upon. In 2015, the amount of helium consumed from health care applications exceeded two billion cubic feet. A new report from Technavio forecasts grow of helium health care consumption at a compound annual growth of 7 percent through 2020.

The second part of our C-Arm spotlight series focuses on Philips. Philips has always played the role of little brother to GE OEC C-Arms. Philips C-Arms are great but generally not regarded as highly as the OECs. Philips missed an opportunity to take control of the C-Arm market when OEC was shut down by the FDA. OEC was able to stay the market leader of C-Arms even after having the work stoppage. Philips does very well specifically with Hospitals that buy only Philips equipment across all modalities. Philips is also ahead of OEC when it comes to flat panel detector C-Arms, but Philips does have stiff competition from the Siemens and Ziehm FD C-Arms.

We are back from another fantastic trip to Chicago for the ASC Becker’s Conference! It was a great two-day show from start to finish.
