Choosing The Right X-Ray Isn’t Always Easy

Posted by Alex Silbergleit on Tue, Apr 14, 2015 @ 09:04 AM

Since 1993, Atlantis Worldwide has been selling the full gambit of used medical imaging equipment and during that time, we’ve heard and seen it all. Of course, we love it when a potential buyer calls us and knows exactly what they are looking for.  Or at least they think they do. But oftentimes we have to burst their bubble and let them know the downside (or pitfalls) to their choice. For example, many times clients think they want to buy a portable X-ray system when actually a stationery system will fit their needs better.  Sure, a portable system is more affordable.  It’s also a great solution for facilities without much space. But portable systems were designed specifically for bedside procedures and for use during surgery. They were not designed for every day use.

What? A New C-Arm at a Pre-Owned Price?

Posted by Alex Silbergleit on Tue, Feb 24, 2015 @ 09:02 AM

New is great. Everybody loves new. If it were up to me, I would ONLY have new everything—from cars and cell phones to homes and imaging devices. But let’s be real.  New is expensive. And if you’re talking about medical imaging devices, new is REALLY expensive. Let’s say you wanted to buy a new OEC, Philips or Siemens C-Arm. You’re looking at more than $100,000.00. Ouch. So it’s no wonder Atlantis Worldwide has been so successful.  We’ve helped clinics, hospitals and other health care entities get the medical imaging equipment they want and need, but at a used or refurbished price.

Diagnostic Imaging in the Veterinary World

Posted by Vikki Harmonay on Wed, Jan 7, 2015 @ 12:01 PM

In significant parts of the world, and America in particular, people’s pets are often considered part of the family. It’s common for pet owners to spend thousands of dollars on healthcare for their animals, including fees for CT Scans, MRIs, C-Arms, Ultrasounds and general X-Rays… money that they don’t spend on dream vacations, better vehicles, and other creature (no pun intended) comforts. It’s also common for wealthier individuals to spend exorbitant amounts on their pets’ care, just because they can.

Posted by Alex Silbergleit on Mon, Dec 22, 2014 @ 08:12 AM

The year 2014 is almost at an end and a lot has happened this year. Donald Sterling is no longer the owner of the LA Clippers after his racial tirade. The Ebola epidemic hit the United States for the first time. And Same Sex Marriage laws were passed in Oregon, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Oklahoma, Utah, Virginia, Wisconsin, Colorado, Indiana, Nevada, West Virginia and North Carolina. It was been a very busy year in the C-Arm world as well. Below are 4 areas in which C-Arms recognized a lot of changes this year:

Here we are, days away from entering into the year 2015 and sometimes we take all the technology that is accessible to us for granted. 150 years ago there were no C-Arms, no X-Ray systems, no computers and no printers. Charles Babbage, motivated by frustrations he felt from the tedious and often times inaccurate task

The Secret Life of Used and Refurbished Medical Imaging Equipment

Posted by Vikki Harmonay on Wed, Dec 10, 2014 @ 10:12 AM

Do you know the difference between used and refurbished medical imaging equipment? Does anyone? I decided to look online and see what people’s comments and questions were. I was surprised—and not surprised—by the level of confusion out there. Some people thought that “used” means the equipment is still working and can be sold again. Some thought “refurbished” means the equipment is broken and scratched, then cleaned up and repaired and sold for lower price. Others thought that used equipment was sent back to the factory for minor repairs and was then wrapped in plastic and sold as refurbished.
